In the UK, the Canadian Pacific steam locomotive of the 1940s, which carried soldiers and supplies to the south coast of England during World War II, was returned to service. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on Wednesday, March 19.

The restoration of the locomotive took at least 14 years. Canadian Pacific set sail from the market town of Elresford in southeastern England on its maiden voyage to nearby Elton, marking the completion of a restoration project begun in 2011.

One of the volunteers of the project, 78-year-old pensioner Stephen Wilson, said that, in his opinion, his late mother could have been one of the many women who participated in the construction of the train in 1941, while the men were at war.

"It's the culmination of a lot of people's hard work, and to see it... it's just wonderful," Wilson shared.

Earlier, on February 6, it became known that the weekend tourist train "Fairytale Express" will start running from Moscow from the end of March. It will run on the Moscow–Kirov– Rostov Veliky – Pereslavl-Zalessky–Moscow ring route.
