On the eve of World Oral Health Day, celebrated on March 20, Oles Shevchenko, MD, Dentist, Professor of the Department of Dentistry, founder and Director of Dental College No. 1, spoke about ways to keep teeth healthy.

"Regular dental checkups are the foundation of preventive medicine. Systematic observation by a dental hygienist makes it possible to identify risk factors for dental diseases and the initial stages of caries, gingivitis and other processes before their transition to complicated or irreversible forms," the expert explained.

Also, in addition to brushing your teeth twice a day — in the morning and in the evening — you can use other hygiene products. One of them may be dental floss on a stick, called a flosser. With its help, you can effectively remove food residues or even soft plaque that appears on your teeth.

"Sugar—free chewing gum is not just a pleasant ritual, but a full-fledged element of comprehensive dental care. While chewing one pad for 10-15 minutes after eating, you can get rid of a significant part of the bacteria — about 100 million will be absorbed into the gum," the doctor added in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».

On February 28, dentist Ekaterina Tsybina spoke about dental problems that indicate diseases of the body. Tooth mobility and tooth loss can signal a lack of vitamin C or a metabolic disorder in the body. In addition, a white plaque that appears on the tongue most likely means problems with the digestive system, and tartar is often a sign of peptic ulcer.
