- Ships of the Russian Federation and Pakistan conducted joint exercises in the Arabian Sea

A detachment of Russian navy ships conducted a joint PASSEX "Arabian Monsoon" type exercise with the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the Arabian Sea. This was announced on March 20 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"During the exercise, the ships of the two countries worked out the tasks of tactical maneuvering and repelled conditional attacks by unmanned enemy boats. Next, the crews conducted an air defense exercise, where Pakistani fighter jets and patrol aircraft simulated anti—ship missile launches," the ministry said.
The Russian group included the corvettes "Sharp", "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and the medium sea tanker "Pechenga" of the Pacific Fleet. The Pakistani side involved the frigate "Shah Jahan" and the corvette "Tabuk" in the exercises.
The final stage of the training was the operation to free the ship conditionally captured by terrorists, which was used by the Russian tanker Pecheneg.
"The last time the parties conducted a PASSEX-type exercise, the Arabian Monsoon, was in 2021," the department recalled.
On March 12, the ships of the Russian Federation, Iran and China practiced the liberation of the captured vessel during the exercises. During the exercises, the sailors had to search for the captured vessel using deck helicopters to assist in reconnaissance and pointing the ships' guns at the imaginary enemy. A Ka-27M naval aviation helicopter of the Russian Pacific Fleet was involved in each episode of the exercise.
