Friedrich Merz, the elected German chancellor and leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), makes a "strange impression" against the background of the United States' policy. This was announced on March 19 by Alexey Pushkov, head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy.

"The mertz got carried away. The future German chancellor has completely lost his mind. <...> Against the background of US policy, Merz makes an increasingly strange impression," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Thus, Pushkov commented on the statements of the CDU leader that Russia is allegedly waging a war against Europe.

The senator called on the Bundestag deputies to watch the video archives of the Great Patriotic War to remember what a real war is and what crimes Germany itself committed.

"Merz is preparing to fight with Russia," Pushkov concluded.

Earlier in the day, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Russia's demands on the conflict in Ukraine are unacceptable. He added that the issue of peace guarantees has not yet been reached. According to him, at the moment we are talking about a cease-fire, and under these circumstances one side cannot accept the conditions.
