Oncologist Marat Verisov told how to determine a predisposition to cancer in the presence of moles.

In an interview with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Wednesday, March 19, the specialist noted that not all moles predispose to the development of cancer. As the doctor explained, moles are benign growths on the skin that lead to an accumulation of melanocytes, cells that produce the pigment melanin. Moles can be congenital and educated, have a different color and size.

Most moles, the doctor emphasized, do not pose a health hazard, but some can degenerate into malignant tumors, in particular, melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

The reason for contacting a doctor may be an increase in the size of the mole, especially rapid, its uneven and blurred edges, the appearance of new shades or uneven pigmentation. The appearance of ulcers and crusts in moles is also dangerous. It is also dangerous if the mole does not have a typical round or oval shape.

The specialist pointed out that people with a large number of moles (50-100) have an increased risk of developing melanoma. It also increases in the presence of atypical moles or melanoma in relatives.

Verisov advised to examine the skin once a month, including in hard-to-reach places. It is also worth examining moles using a special device — a dermatoscope, which allows you to measure the structure of moles in multiple magnification.

The expert also noted that it is worth avoiding excessive exposure to sunlight, using a low-SPF sunscreen, the website writes kp.ru . The expert concluded that at the first alarming signs, you should immediately consult a doctor.

In March, oncologist Rasul Akhmaev named cancers that cause malignant tumors. In particular, pancreatic tumors are the most difficult to treat.

In January, dermatologist Ekaterina Kandinskaya warned that melanoma can have any localization. They most often start on the torso of men and on the legs of women, RT notes. If there are any changes or new spots on the skin, consult a doctor.

Earlier, dermatovenerologist Irina Skorogudaeva warned in an interview with NSN that an attempt to quickly tan on vacation could have dangerous consequences in the form of skin cancer. According to her, the sun is the trigger for melanoma.
