On March 19, Russian national football team forward Artyom Dzyuba commented on his 31st goal for the national team, after which he became the top scorer in its history.

"It was unexpected for me, but, as I thought, the anthem touched my soul more, to be honest. I was crying, I hope it wasn't visible. I thought I'd hold back, but I'm straight in the moment... I really miss the battle," he told Izvestia.

At the same time, the athlete stated that he does not consider himself the best player in the history of the national team.

"I don't consider myself the best, but... Anyway, I've got as much time as I can spare. I want to consolidate my result as much as possible. And in the future, just watch and enjoy. And if someone ever beats me, I will be only glad," he said.

Dzyuba also noted that he is always ready to help the Russian national team, but now he needs to recover.

"Now I need to recover, because there have been a lot of matches lately. And I need to get myself cleaned up now. <...> I would love to move on in this game, but it's also not good to be arrogant. The guys need to play too. I wish them all good luck," concluded the footballer.

Russian national football team forward Artyom Dzyuba scored his 31st goal for the national team, becoming the top scorer in its history. This happened in the match against Grenada, which takes place on March 19 at the VTB Arena in Moscow.

On March 13, the RFU announced that Artyom Dzyuba had joined the Russian national team for friendly matches against Grenada and Zambia. He last played for the national team in June 2021 in the European Championship match against Denmark.
