In the waters of the Neva River in the Leningrad region, a cargo ship broke away from its berth and drifted. This was announced on Wednesday, March 19, by the North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office.

"According to preliminary data, in the area of the Sverdlov settlement, the Svetly-22 cargo ship started moving along the river. Currently, the vessel is drifting under the influence of currents and ice," the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.

Rescue services have been dispatched to the scene. In addition, the Leningrad-Finnish Transport Prosecutor's Office is conducting an audit of the implementation of legislation on the safety of navigation.

On February 21, a source from Izvestia reported a collision between the tanker Natig Aliyev and the dry cargo ship Begonia off the coast of Gelendzhik. The vessels were separated with the help of a tugboat. According to the source, the ships received minor damage.
