A resident of Monchegorsk was sentenced for an accident with two victims

A court in Monchegorsk (Murmansk region) has sentenced a Gazelle driver who caused an accident with two victims. The press service of the Monchegorsk City Court announced this on Wednesday, March 19.
The accident occurred at the end of November 2024 in the daytime on the federal highway R-21 "Cola". The driver of the Gazelle drove into oncoming traffic to overtake the KAMAZ and crashed into another car moving in its lane.
As a result of the accident, the driver of an oncoming car and his passenger received various injuries, which were later classified as causing serious harm to health. In court, the Gazelle driver admitted his guilt and apologized to the victims, Bi-port news agency writes.
The court found him guilty under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused serious harm to health" and sentenced him to one year in prison. During this time, the man is "obliged to prove a correction by his behavior," the court noted.
The motorist was also deprived of his driver's license for a year and a half. The verdict has already entered into force.
At the end of February, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened in the Lipetsk region on the fact of an accident, as a result of which one person was killed and two injured. As it turned out, the alleged culprit of the accident was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
