Serbia approves resignation of Prime Minister Vucevic after the tragedy in Novi Sad

The Serbian parliament has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic. This was reported on March 19 by the RTS TV channel.
"The deputies of the Serbian Parliament today voted on the remaining 12 of the 70 items on the agenda of the first session of the regular spring session. The resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic has been confirmed," the statement said.
Serbian Prime Minister Vucevic resigned on January 28 last year amid protests and a split in society. According to him, the tragedy with the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad cast a shadow over the government.
The canopy of the railway station collapsed in the city of Novi Sad on November 1 last year. As a result of the emergency, 14 people died. The Serbian authorities declared November 2 a day of mourning for the victims.
After the incident, on November 4, 2024, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Goran Vesic decided to leave his post. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in the same month that this resignation was "just the beginning" and that a series of dismissals would take place in the country in the near future.
