Putin: all Ukrainian military personnel in Kursk region are terrorists

The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who are on the territory of the Kursk region should be qualified as terrorists. This was announced on March 19 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"According to the laws of the Russian Federation, all soldiers of the Ukrainian army, and even more so foreign mercenaries who were on our territory and committed a number of crimes against the civilian population, should be qualified and are qualified by our law as terrorists," he said at the board of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia.

According to him, the atrocities committed by them must be identified, recorded and thoroughly investigated. He instructed the prosecutor's office, including military prosecutors, to fully carry out work in the liberated territories of the Kursk region.

"All these criminals, punishers, those who gave criminal orders and abused civilians must be identified and must receive fair punishment in the future," the head of state added.

At a meeting at the control center of the Kursk group of the Armed Forces of Russia on March 12, Putin noted that the captured Ukrainian militants in the Kursk region should be treated as terrorists. At the same time, the Russian President stressed the importance of humane treatment of all those who were captured. He also recalled that foreign mercenaries are not subject to the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
