After Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump agreed to suspend strikes on energy infrastructure, Russian air defense systems destroyed their drones heading for designated targets, confirming compliance with the agreements. This was announced on March 19 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"The drones were just forming up in battle formation. Six of them were shot down by Pantsiri, and one drone was destroyed by an on-duty aircraft of the Russian Air Force. Our system is working efficiently," said the press secretary of the head of state.

He clarified that as soon as the parties reached an agreement, Putin immediately gave the command to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Speaking about the possible option of a complete ceasefire in Ukraine, Peskov added that Putin and Trump had not discussed the issue of introducing peacekeeping forces into the country. However, the Russian side brought to Washington in detail all the nuances of the agreement mentioned by the Russian president, in particular, the issue of stopping military supplies to Kiev in the event of a truce.

On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had carried out a deliberate drone attack on an energy facility in the village of Kavkazskaya in the Krasnodar Territory. According to the ministry, with this attack, the Kiev regime tried to disrupt Trump's peace initiatives in his negotiations with the Russian president.

The telephone conversation between Putin and the American leader took place on March 18. During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and discussed a wide range of areas in which the United States and Russia could cooperate.

In addition, Putin supported Trump's idea of a mutual refusal of the Russian Federation and Ukraine from strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days and immediately gave the Russian military the appropriate command. However, he clarified that it is necessary to stop the forced mobilization in Ukraine and the rearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
