Finnish President Alexander Stubb said on March 19 that Ukraine should not be subjected to "Finlandization" in the conflict settlement process, otherwise Kiev would repeat the fate of Helsinki in 1944.

"I believe that the basis of statehood usually rests on three pillars: independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Finland in 1944, after the imprisonment of [Joseph] Stalin of the world, lost two of these pillars," he said at a joint conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

According to Stubb, the Finnish side allegedly lost sovereignty and 10% of the territory of the state. He stressed that Ukraine should not get into such a situation.

The USSR, Great Britain and Finland signed the Moscow Armistice on September 19, 1944, which effectively ended the Soviet-Finnish war of 1941-1944. One of the conditions of the Moscow Armistice was the establishment of the border in accordance with the 1940 peace treaty, according to which Finland ceded about a tenth of its territory to the USSR and pledged not to participate in coalitions hostile to the USSR.

Finland provided Ukraine with the 28th military aid package worth €200 million at a meeting of the two countries' defense ministers on March 13. It was clarified that the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov, and his colleague Antti Hyakkanen also signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation between the two countries.
