The Tverskoy Court in Moscow replaced French citizen Philippe Delpal, convicted in Russia in the Baring Vostok case, with a suspended sentence for a real one, the Izvestia correspondent reported from the courtroom on March 19.

"The court ruled: to satisfy the petition for the cancellation of the suspended sentence in connection with the failure to fulfill the assigned duties," the judge announced the decision.

In August 2021, the Moscow Meshchansky Court sentenced to suspended sentences all seven accused of embezzling 2.5 billion rubles from Vostochny Bank. The founder of the Baring Vostok investment fund, Michael Calvey, received 5.5 years probation, while his business partner Philippe Delpal received 4.5 years probation.

In June 2023, the Moscow City Court reduced the terms of the defendants in the appeal: in particular, Calvi to 4.5 years, Delpal to 3.5 years.

In July 2024, the Interior Ministry put a French citizen on the wanted list in Russia. It was not specified which article of the Criminal Code (CC) of the Russian Federation he was wanted for. On September 23, the court upheld the suspended sentence for the Frenchman. He did not attend the meeting because he does not have a Russian visa and left the territory of the Russian Federation in 2022. In November, Delpal's case was returned to the Tverskoy Court of Moscow for a review of his criminal sentence.
