GAC has announced the configuration of the Empower sports sedan for Russia

The new GAC Empower sedan will be presented in Russia in two trim levels, which differ not only in options, but also in exterior details. This is stated in a message from the Russian office of the brand, which was received by Izvestia on March 19. Prices for Empower will be announced on the day of the start of sales, which is scheduled for March 24.

GAC positions Empow as a sports sedan. In the Russian market, the model will be offered with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 170 hp paired with a 7-speed "robot" with two wet clutches. Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h takes 6.95 seconds, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 5.7 liters/100 km. There are four driving modes to choose from. Dimensions of the model: 4700×1850×1432 mm, wheelbase — 2736 mm.

The sedan will be available in two trim levels: the basic GS and the extended GL (S-style). The initial version has diode optics, air conditioning, front airbags, a Russified multimedia system with a 10.25-inch display and support for the Apple CarPlay protocol, a 7-inch digital dashboard and other options.

In the maximum configuration, the Empower features 18-inch wheels in a special design, an aerodynamic body kit (front bumper with carbon fiber trim, rear diffuser, spoiler on the trunk lid), an exhaust system with adjustable volume, as well as sports settings for the engine, transmission and steering.

The top-end version also includes a dashboard enlarged to 10.25 inches, dual-zone climate control, a Yamaha audio system with eight speakers, atmospheric interior lighting, electric adjustment of the front seats, wireless charging for gadgets, heated steering wheel and rear seats, six airbags and driver's assistants, including adaptive cruise control.

The day before, it was reported that the Chinese company GAC intends to launch the production of cars in Russia. Pavel Nikiforov, Head of Sales Development at GAC Motor Russia, told Izvestia that the company is negotiating with a number of local manufacturers and is currently discussing the site.

On March 17, GAC introduced the GS4 crossover in Russia. The price of the new product starts from 3 million rubles. In 2025, the Chinese manufacturer is also going to launch three electrified models on the Russian market, details about them have not yet been disclosed.
