On March 19, Secretary of the State Council of the Russian Federation Alexey Dyumin discussed the work of the commission for the support of special operation veterans and their family members with its chairman, Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin.

The topics of the conversation were the tasks of the new body, its composition, as well as the work plan for 2025.

Dyumin noted that there are still problems in the country with the support of its veterans, requiring urgent action. In particular, he called for greater involvement of the regions in social and medical support for combat participants.

"We must do everything to help the guys who return from the front to find themselves in a peaceful life. There is no time to rock up. The work of the commission should be launched as soon as possible," the Secretary of the State Council said.

Babushkin, in turn, said that the new committee will include representatives of all commissions of the State Council, as well as relevant ministries and public organizations. Within the framework of this body, three working groups will be created: on the socialization and well-being of veterans, on improving psychological and medical care, and on ensuring interdepartmental interaction.

The head of the commission also noted the importance of cooperation with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. The Committee will address systemic problems in the field of support for veterans of the SVR in order to provide favorable conditions for those organizations that work with people.

"The ultimate goal of both the foundation and the commission is to ensure the well—being of our heroes who returned from the special military operation zone and their family members," Babushkin stressed.

The installation meeting of the commission will be held next week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the establishment of the State Council commission for the support of special operations veterans and their families on March 10. The tasks of the new body include coordinating the work of various departments and organizations on the adaptation of military veterans to civilian life, monitoring regional measures to support participants in the special operation, as well as developing additional measures to support military personnel and their families.
