- Weidel pointed to the threat to the eurozone due to the growing budget deficit in Germany

The Bundestag's decision to raise the threshold of Germany's public debt poses a threat to the entire eurozone. This was announced on March 19 by Alice Weidel, chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
She noted that Germany has always been the guarantor of a stable situation in the European economy.
"Germany will lose its AAA credit rating, and this will jeopardize the entire stability of the eurozone," Weidel told reporters.
According to the chairman of the AfD, the parliament's decision will permanently deprive Germany of financial and political stability and place a heavy burden on the younger generation of consumers and taxpayers.
In addition, Weidel noted that the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, had broken all the promises he had made on the eve of his party's victorious parliamentary elections.
"He ran with a program of civil and political change, which he threw out the window immediately after the election. This is the most heinous deception of a voter that I have ever seen in the history of Germany," the head of the AFD emphasized.
A day earlier, the Bundestag adopted constitutional amendments suggesting an increase in the volume of public debt in order to increase defense spending. In the future, all defense expenditures in the German federal budget exceeding 1% of production will no longer be subject to the rules of the constitution on public debt.
