Two workers were killed when a crane collapsed in Komi

As a result of the collapse of the boom of a cargo crane in the Ezhvinsky district of Syktyvkar, two workers were killed. As the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the region reported on March 19, a criminal case has been opened into the tragedy.

The incident occurred the day before, on March 18. The case is being investigated under Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during other work, which negligently resulted in the death of two persons").

"During the repair work, the boom of the lifting crane and the cargo being lifted onto the production site collapsed. Two employees of the enterprise who were there fell from a great height and received injuries incompatible with life," the agency's website says.

Earlier, on February 13, two workers died in a collapse at a potash mine in Solikamsk. According to Uralkali, the incident occurred at the SKRU-3 mine.
