Gislaved tire factory opened in Ulyanovsk
The Gislaved tire factory was launched in the Ulyanovsk region, the Izvestia correspondent reports from the scene on March 19. According to Alexey Mordashov, CEO of Severgroup, by the end of this year the company intends to produce 1.2 million tires at the enterprise, in 2026 production should increase to 2.4 million tires.
"The plant's products will change, we are working on expanding the range. This is one of the most modern factories. The company is capable of making premium quality tires — we will fill the segment of premium tires, which are in short supply on the market," Mordashov said.
The test launch of the enterprise took place at the end of last year, production processes were tested and tested, he added. As the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russian, noted, after the departure of a foreign manufacturer, the company was idle for more than two years.
"We managed to retain almost the entire staff of the plant — all this time all social benefits have been preserved. Now the company is being restarted by a domestic investor, who has done a lot of work. This is the last plant in the region that was restarted after the departure of foreign investors," said Alexey Russian.
Cordiant Holding includes five production sites, including the plants of JSC Cordiant in Omsk and Yaroslavl and enterprises purchased from foreign owners: the former Continental in Kaluga and Bridgestone in Ulyanovsk (now Gislaved plants).
Also on this day, Vadim Volodin, CEO of Cordiant JSC, said that last year sales of new passenger tires increased by 23% compared to 2023, and Chinese brand products occupied 70% of the market.
