In Russia, more than 12,000 violations have been identified in connection with the ill-considered purchase of medicines, irrational distribution and write-off. This was announced on March 19 at a meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation by Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.

"Violations of the requirements for prescribing and trafficking medicines sometimes directly threaten the safety of citizens," he stressed.

According to him, prosecutors suppressed the facts of trafficking in drugs with limited turnover, the sale of counterfeit medicines through a network of illegal pharmacies, including for the treatment of diseases of the nervous system, which had tragic consequences for children.

Earlier, on February 5, it was reported that 540 new medicines appeared in Russia. The total volume of their packages amounted to 52.1 million, the press service of the CRPT (operator of the Honest Sign state labeling system) said. They added that pharmaceutical companies can produce medicines with the same active ingredient (international nonproprietary name, INN), but under different trademarks.
