The UK will ask the court to choose a measure of restraint for comedian Ostanin in the form of imprisonment

The Investigative Committee of Russia plans to petition the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow for a custodial measure for stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin. This was announced on March 19 by the main metropolitan directorate of the Investigative Committee.

It is noted that the comedian was charged under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity). Investigative actions were carried out with Ostanin, his involvement in the crime was confirmed by witnesses.

"Today, the investigation intends to petition the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow for the election of a preventive measure related to imprisonment against him," the department's Telegram channel says.

A day earlier, Ostanin was detained while trying to leave Russia. According to investigators, on March 15, the stand-up comedian made hostile comments in a public speech about people who were injured and disabled. After the arrest, the comedian apologized for his words and stated that he had no intention of hurting anyone's feelings.
