In Russia, the share of the IT industry in gross domestic product (GDP) reached 2.4% in 2024. Compared to 2023, it increased by 0.3 percentage points. This follows from the data provided by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation at an expanded meeting of the IT committee on the eve of the Russian government's report, the Izvestia correspondent reported on March 19.

At the same time, sales of domestic IT solutions and services amounted to 4.5 trillion rubles last year. The indicator increased by 46% over the year. At the same time, the number of employees of IT organizations reached 992 thousand people (+16%), and the number of products in the unified register of Russian software exceeded 25 thousand (+22.4%).

The ministry also spoke about the training of workers in this industry. So, in 2024, 128.6 thousand people were enrolled in universities in IT specialties for budget places, 2% more than in 2023. At the same time, 243 thousand students are enrolled in universities in "digital departments" (+44.3% compared to last year). The number of students who passed the Unified State Exam in computer science was 122.7 thousand (+3%).
