A productive dialogue between Russia and Denmark is impossible today, as Copenhagen views Moscow as an existential threat, the Russian Embassy in that country told Izvestia.

"A productive dialogue between our countries is impossible today. Denmark considers Russia as an existential threat and is making every effort to counteract the interests of our country everywhere," they said.

The initiatives of US President Donald Trump to establish a dialogue with Russia and determine the conditions for ending the conflict in Ukraine were initially perceived very critically in Denmark: almost as a rejection by the United States of the common goal of the West to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.

"The results of the recent Ukrainian-American talks in Jeddah, at which Ukraine declared its readiness to conclude a truce, were received positively in Copenhagen. Here, first of all, they drew attention to the fact that the United States has restored arms supplies to the Kiev regime, and they expect that the United States will also be committed to a unified Western policy against Russia," the diplomatic mission in Copenhagen noted.

Denmark has adopted a long-term support program for Ukraine, and about $1.35 billion has been allocated for military assistance to the Kiev regime in 2025. Although Copenhagen has repeatedly made it clear that it is ready to increase the volume of military assistance to Kiev, it will be difficult to find additional funds for these purposes. Denmark has joined the arms race and intends to significantly increase spending on rearmament of its own armed forces, the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen stressed.

"Denmark's principled readiness, in the event of a truce or peace agreement, to consider sending its military contingent disguised as "peacekeepers" to Ukraine is supported by parliamentary parties and does not cause opposition in Danish society. They are confident that with such measures the West will ensure peace in Ukraine and the security of Europe. Denmark ignores Russia's opinion on this issue," the Russian diplomats concluded.

Earlier, Denmark expressed its readiness to send military personnel to Ukraine as part of the peacekeeping forces. This can happen only after the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement or the establishment of peace, said the kingdom's Foreign Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen. Russia opposes the deployment of European troops in Ukraine.
