Online platforms reported an increase in sales of summer clothing in March

In early March, Russians were more active in purchasing summer and mid-season clothes and shoes than a year earlier, the online platform told Izvestia.
Analysts called the abnormally warm beginning of March the reason for the shift in demand towards lighter clothing.
Sales of windbreakers and half-coats doubled at Wildberries in early March.
"Sales of demi-season shoes (half-boots, half-boots) jumped by 40-44%. They bought 42% more sneakers. Loafers turned out to be the leaders, sales of which increased by 72%," the analysts of the site noted.
Windbreakers and jackets for kids were bought by 48% and 89% more actively.
In March of this year, men were more likely to purchase shorts (+40% compared to last year), slip-ons and espadrilles (+33%), moccasins and loafers (+18%) and sandals (+14%), Avito added.
"Also, due to the warm start of spring, sales of bomber jackets increased by 44% year—on—year, denim jackets by 11%, and light jackets and raincoats by 9%," they said.
Sales of T-shirts and shirts have also increased.
"Among women's clothing, sales of summer sundresses showed a particular increase (+28% compared to March last year), shirts and blouses (+13%) and skirts (+8%). Also, compared to last year, Russians in March were more likely to purchase light outerwear — jackets and windbreakers (+9%) and raincoats and trench coats (+5%)," the analysts added.
Women started buying summer shoes earlier this year: sales of clogs and mules, as well as moccasins and loafers, increased in the first half of March.
