Moscow is recording progress in its bilateral relations with the United States. This was announced on March 18 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Maria Zakharova.

"We are certainly recording some progress on the bilateral track, this is obvious, these are attempts by the United States to activate, or better yet, literally recreate from the ruins, contacts between Russian and American diplomats that were destroyed by the previous administration," the diplomat said in an interview with former American intelligence officer and analyst Scott Ritter. The video was posted on his Telegram channel.

Russia sees Washington's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, Zakharova added.

According to her, Moscow itself is taking part in improving relations. However, as Zakharova pointed out, the Kremlin proceeds from the specific actions of the White House, not relying on words alone.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump had a telephone conversation. During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, and also discussed a wide range of areas in which the United States and Russia could establish cooperation.

Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, in turn, said that during the conversation between the heads of state, the self-worth of bilateral relations between the countries was demonstrated. He added that thanks to this contact, an indisputable step forward was made, since both sides are focused on results.
