The head of WADA called for a change in the anti-doping code

President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Witold Banka called on his team to change the anti-doping code to distinguish accidental contamination of samples from intentional doping. He said this on Tuesday, March 18, at the opening of the annual symposium 2025 in Lausanne.
"The task of WADA, other anti—doping organizations and ultimately the tribunals reviewing these cases is to distinguish between cases of genuine infection and cases of fraud," he was quoted as saying on the agency's official website.
According to the head of WADA, the system should not be too harsh so that athletes do not suffer from unfair treatment, but at the same time it should not be too soft.
So, Banka called on his team to review the code of the World Anti-Doping Agency and improve it.
Earlier, on February 15, WADA suspended Italian world number one Yannick Sinner from competitions and training for three months due to a substance prohibited by the rules found in his samples. According to the athlete's explanation, the banned substance was part of the spray used by his doctor to treat a cut on his arm.
