Russians have become more likely to choose Rome for trips abroad

The number of hotel bookings in Rome in April among Russians increased by 69% compared to the same period last year, St. Petersburg remains the most popular destination in Russia, with the Northern Capital accounting for 19.2%. This follows from the data for April of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 20.

It also turned out that in 2025, 23% more tourists will go abroad, the total share of foreign orders has reached 54%. In addition, in April 2025, the average cost of a room in foreign hotels chosen by travelers is 17 thousand rubles per night, which is 8% higher than a year ago.

In addition to the Italian capital, demand increased for trips to Tashkent (+58%), Beijing (+47%) and Paris (+30%). At the same time, 34% fewer travelers will travel to Minsk in April than last year.

Istanbul ranks first in terms of the number of bookings (7.2%). Despite the fact that megapolis remains the leader in this category, demand still decreased by 15%. Dubai is on the second line with a share of 4.1%, interest in the destination has not changed over the year. Tokyo is in third place, where 4% of travelers will go, as in 2024. Paris (3.0%), Seoul (2.8%), Rome (2.7%), Beijing (2.6%), Shanghai (2.5%), Minsk (2.3%) and Tashkent (1.9%) are also among the top popular April destinations.

Within the Russian Federation, after St. Petersburg, Russians most often choose Moscow, 18.3% of tourists will go to the capital in the middle of spring. The popularity of the two cities increased by 8% over the year. The third place is in Sochi, where 12.8% of bookings were made, which is 10% less than in the spring of last year.

Also in April, Russians will travel to Kaliningrad (3.7%), Kazan (3.5%), Nizhny Novgorod (2.3%), Zelenogradsk (1.5%), Krasnodar (1.4%), Kislovodsk (1.3%) and Yekaterinburg (1.2%). The interest of Russian tourists in Kislovodsk increased by 62% over the year, and in Kazan by 7%. Krasnodar and Kaliningrad have become less popular — by 48% and 25%, respectively. The shares of the other cities remained virtually unchanged.
