This was announced on March 18 by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinstein, following a working meeting with the head of the Engineering Troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky.

"Sappers have already started their work in 36 settlements. Currently, the engineering troops have cleared about 19 thousand hectares of land, over 370 km of roads, more than 6.7 thousand buildings and structures," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to him, Stavitsky said that the group of sappers in the Kursk region will increase to 1,000 people. In addition, support from BARS-Kursk volunteers is being prepared. They are expected to start work after completing their training within a week.

Khinstein clarified that the preparation of a list of objects that need to be checked and cleaned first is approaching the final stage. He clarified that the list includes roads and energy facilities. The acting head of the Kursk region also noted the need to clear the territory of settlements as a matter of priority.

Work on mine clearance of the liberated territories of the Kursk region began on March 14. Then Khinstein noted that from March 15 until the end of the work, the entrance to the border area is temporarily closed, since it is currently extremely dangerous to stay there.
