The architecture of the business program of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress is posted on the official website of the event. The Congress is one of the key events in the global environmental calendar and will be held on May 22-23, 2025 at the Tavrichesky Palace in St. Petersburg.
The event will bring together more than 1,200 participants, including heads of legislative and executive authorities, representatives of Russian and international environmental organizations, business circles, educational and research institutions, mass media and public associations.
The business program includes a plenary session, thematic sessions, an exposition of environmental projects of federal and regional importance, as well as environmental actions united by the main idea, which is reflected in the motto of the Congress "Planet Earth: harmony of man and nature."
"Ensuring the quality and longevity of life is impossible without comprehensive, systematic work on environmental protection, support for environmental programs, and the development of energy-saving technologies. It is today that we determine our future – the future in which our children and grandchildren will live. The environmental agenda is constantly in the focus of attention of the Government of our country. The tasks that we face require the consolidation of the efforts of the state and society, where each of us must treat the world around us responsibly," said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
The thematic areas of the business program include tracks on the following topics: food security in the context of climate change, ecology of subsurface use, low-carbon solutions for the development of a green economy, the development of ecotourism, the role of women in achieving environmental well-being, etc.
One of the key discussion tracks of the Congress is the formation of a closed–loop economy. The discussion agenda included issues of state policy on the development of a cyclical economy in Russia, the national project "Environmental well-being" as a new stage in the development of the MSW industry, legislative regulation of the industry, the creation of infrastructure and state support for green projects. The prospects of well-being using the example of real cases of cities will be discussed within the framework of the international discussion platform "Ecology of Big Cities".
At the session "Everything for Nature: Artificial Intelligence and High Technologies", domestic and foreign companies will share their experience in implementing biotechnologies, robotics, information systems and artificial intelligence, share technological innovations, and discuss personnel training issues.
Discussion of the BRICS Sustainable Development session: How Environmental projects are changing the world for the better" will be built around the possibilities of preparing and implementing multilateral and bilateral projects within the framework of the BRICS environmental track. The topic of interstate cooperation will also be raised during the discussion of the Caspian Sea ecosystem with the participation of federal and regional authorities of Russia and the Caspian states, as well as during other events of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
The agenda of the meeting of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on environmental well-being will include issues on measures to achieve the national goal, issues of socio-economic development of the regions, the implementation of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program in the field of environmental development and others.
The prospects for cooperation between Russia and Central Asian countries in the water and energy sector will also be discussed during the interstate events of NMEC-2025, and representatives of executive authorities, the nature reserve sector of Russia and foreign countries, as well as UNESCO experts, will raise issues of management of transboundary World Heritage sites.
The key event of the business program of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress will be the plenary session "Ecology of the New Reality: Challenges and Opportunities", which will be hosted by Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council, Chairman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
A rich youth program, as well as a number of significant environmental actions, are traditionally timed to coincide with the Nevsky Ecological Congress in St. Petersburg. Among them, the sap swim is a large-scale event in the format of an open city festival that will bring together Forum guests and eco–active residents of St. Petersburg, fans of sap as the most environmentally friendly water sport. The youth agenda includes round tables on environmental education and culture, environmental volunteerism, a meeting of youth leaders of climate initiatives from different countries, the #ecoGTO environmental relay race and other events.
The organizers of the XI Nevsky Ecological Congress are the Government of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Roscongress Foundation is the operator for the preparation and holding of the event.
