- The expert listed the mistakes of parents when organizing home schooling for a child

Homeschooling is becoming more and more popular, but its organization must be approached responsibly so as not to harm the child. On March 21, Victoria Podsukhina, a teacher and head of regional teaching at the educational company MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia about the frequent mistakes of parents.
She called the lack of a clear schedule and consistency in the educational process one of the main problems.
"In this case, learning will simply be chaotic and uncontrolled, and the child will not see a clear difference between schoolwork and training, creativity and other activities. The learning plan should be consistent: the student should set goals for the day, week and month in order to study effectively," said Podsukhina.
According to her, it is equally important to find a middle ground, combining the independence of the child with moderate parental control. Some of them provide too much freedom, which leads to gaps in knowledge and lack of discipline. Others overly control every step, which makes the child nervous and affects the lack of motivation.
The expert noted that for the successful organization of home schooling, it is important to take into account the individual characteristics of the child. For example, you can find out which learning style suits him together with a psychologist, teacher or tutor, and only then choose how best to build the learning process.
In addition, she stressed that many parents forget about the importance of children's social development.
"A child of any age needs to communicate with peers, whether it's clubs, sections or other events. School is a social institution where the first friends appear, opportunities for communication, and the child takes a certain position in society. In the absence of a school, parents should make sure that the child has the opportunity to interact with other children," said Podsukhina.
Also, parents often ignore the child's need for rest. According to the expert, children at home often find themselves even more overloaded with classes than at school. However, without a change of activity and the opportunity to relax, a child may lose interest in learning and face emotional burnout, Podsukhina recalled.
"Parents often expect perfect results from home schooling, thinking that it is easier to study at home. However, children may not meet such expectations. <...> Therefore, parents will have to take into account all aspects of their child's current personality development in order to understand what results should be expected from him," she concluded.
On March 13, the head of the educational department of the USE Center school, Olesya Mayerova, told Izvestia when parents should change schools for their children. First of all, she advised paying attention to the emotional state of the child and his academic performance. Before making a decision about changing schools, it is important to discuss the situation with him. An open dialogue will help to understand what exactly is bothering the child, said Maerova. When changing schools, the expert recommended contacting the school administration and other parents in advance.
