Nuclear safety is among Russia's priorities in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on March 18 by Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

"Of course, our main expectation from the peace process and negotiations in general is stability, and it respects Russia's interests. Nuclear safety is among the absolute priorities," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Likhachev added that the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and the Kursk power plant are in the area of special attention. According to him, the issue of settlement must comply with all conditions for the safety of the Russian Federation's nuclear facilities.

The head of Rosatom noted that he sees no point in the joint management of the NPP by the Russian state corporation and the Ukrainian Energoatom.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said on March 13 that there was an unstable nuclear safety situation at the NPP. He added that the IAEA experts hear explosions at different distances from the facility most of the working days.
