Russians talked about the key factors when choosing a school

Among Russians raising children, almost half identified proximity to home as a key factor in choosing a school, according to a joint study by Yandex Real Estate and the Moscow developer Forma, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 19.
Almost 93% want the educational institution to be within walking distance from home, while 88% of parents are not ready to spend more than 15 minutes on the road. For 56.7% of the survey participants, a well—developed children's infrastructure is one of the decisive factors when choosing a home.
"Modern citizens highly value their personal time, so they strive to create their schedule as efficiently as possible. This also applies to children. Therefore, the concept of a "city within a city" and a well-developed internal infrastructure are becoming a crucial factor when looking for an apartment. And the task of developers is to respond to the buyer's request and create the most comfortable living environment, freeing up as much time as possible for personal development and hobbies," explained Ilya Cheprasov, head of Forma.
Parents pay special attention to the quality of education. More than 12%, when choosing an educational institution, primarily focus on the regalia and achievements of the teaching staff. Another 10% of the respondents are guided by the possibility of in-depth study of certain disciplines. Of the main specialized areas, 29% of the parents surveyed prefer foreign languages.
Parents are also actively influenced by the IT trend, for 21% of respondents it is important that the school has specialized computer science classes, and 20% choose exact sciences. Only 16.6% of respondents see their child's future in professions related to natural sciences. The most unclaimed subjects, according to the survey participants, are social disciplines.
"High—quality schooling is always in demand, and parents strive to choose the best educational institution for their child," added Evgeny Belokurov, Commercial Director of Yandex Real Estate.
In addition to good grades in the diary, it is also important for parents to evaluate the educational institutions themselves by the professional community. More than 10% of Russians shared the opinion that when choosing a school, they take into account its rating, and 6% prefer recommendations from friends and acquaintances. The type of educational institution also plays an important role. In 88% of cases, parents choose a public school, while 12% prefer private educational institutions. Also, about 3% of parents said that they immediately consider the prospect of going to university and are ready to send their child to school and a specialized college at the university.
Earlier, on March 13, the head of the educational department of the USE Center school, Olesya Maerova, explained in an interview with Izvestia when parents should change schools for their children. According to her, first of all it is worth paying attention to the emotional state of the child. If he began to return from school without a mood, avoid communication and began to refuse to share his impressions, this is an alarming signal.
