- The State Duma adopted a draft on passing the OGE in only two subjects in three regions of the Russian Federation.

On March 18, the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a bill on conducting an experiment in which schoolchildren from Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Lipetsk region will be required to take the basic state exam (OGE) only in Russian and mathematics. The final document was published in the database of the lower house of Parliament.
According to the draft, three regions will have a special procedure for enrolling students in secondary vocational education programs. The authorities of the subjects will be able to establish a list of specialties for which it is enough for an applicant to obtain a school certificate, which is issued upon successful completion of two basic subjects on the OGE.
In addition, students who fail to achieve the minimum exam score for admission to the 10th grade will receive preferential admission to colleges at the expense of the region.
The subjects participating in the experiment will have to report on its preliminary results to the State Duma no later than December 10.
The bill on the experiment on the simplified procedure for passing the BGE was submitted to the State Duma on January 17 and adopted in the first reading on February 12. Initially, it was assumed that the new rules would be applied in five regions, by the second reading the list was expanded to 12. The criteria for the regions' readiness to participate in the experiment were determined by the Russian government.
On December 11, 2024, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Rosobrnadzor approved the OGE schedule for 2025. Early exams in 2025 will be held from April 22 to May 6, and the main exams will be held from May 21 to June 16.
