Most European Union (EU) countries want to continue the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on March 18 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto at the Raisina Dialogue political science conference.

"Most of the EU member states and European institutions, Brussels have made a clear commitment to continue the conflict," he said, answering a question from TASS.

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry clarified that he was not aware of the reasons for this decision. He also expressed hope that the commitment of US President Donald Trump to hold successful negotiations with Russia on the Ukrainian conflict would be stronger than "the will of some Europeans to undermine this process."

The grandson of former French President General Charles de Gaulle, Pierre de Gaulle, told Izvestia on March 10 that Europe supports the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine, opposing peace agreements. According to him, with such a position, European countries are losing their "natural and legitimate place" at the negotiating table.
