A well-chosen preparation strategy for the unified State Exam (USE) directly affects not only the scores, but also the career trajectory of the graduate. On March 20, Olesya Mayerova, head of the educational department of the Unified State Exam Center school, told Izvestia about how to choose subjects in order to achieve the desired professional goals.

"Almost a third of graduates change their exam plans every year immediately before applying to universities. The reasons for this are the lack of an early strategy and a lack of understanding of their professional goals. The price of such a mistake is wasted time, financial costs and emotional burnout," she said.

The expert also advised not to choose subjects based solely on their popularity and "fashion" for certain specialties. According to her, consultations with experts and labor market analysis help to understand which activities will be interesting and relevant. Based on this, you can select the necessary subjects for the Unified State Exam.

"The student's task is to focus on those subjects that will become the "tickets" to the chosen specialty. The sooner you do this, the more likely you are to master the program at a high level. Regular thematic classes and practice in solving tests form stable knowledge," said Maerova.

She also recommended that you engage in both in-depth study of theory in selected subjects, as well as regular practical testing of USE assignments.

"Regular intermediate testing and progress monitoring allow us to adjust the curriculum. This makes it possible to identify weaknesses in time and quickly improve knowledge where it is needed most," the expert added.

She called the lack of regular classes, ignoring career guidance and allowing burnout the main mistakes in preparation.

"Well—chosen subjects, a clear understanding of their goals and capabilities, and a systematic approach to classes are what will help graduates not only successfully pass the Unified State Exam, but also confidently enter adult professional life," concluded Mayerova.

On March 13, Anastasia Fomicheva, a mathematics teacher at the Unified State Exam Center school, told Izvestia about the ways to prepare for the Unified State Exam in mathematics. The expert recommended identifying problematic topics using a diagnostic test. It is useful to solve problems of different levels of complexity by changing the conditions. This will help you see the interrelationships between different topics and strengthen your skills in working with the material. She also noted that it is more effective to study for 30-40 minutes with short pauses than to try to master all the material in one evening.
