Russia is concerned about a new round of escalation in the Middle East after Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. This was announced on March 18 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Of course, another escalation of the situation and the spiral of escalating tensions is something that causes our concern, especially the incoming information about heavy casualties among the civilian population. We are monitoring the situation very closely and, of course, we expect it to return to a peaceful course," he said.
