The State Duma told about the preparation of seedlings in March

Spring is the time of awakening of nature and the beginning of active work in suburban areas. Nikita Chaplin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia faction and chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow region, told Izvestia on March 19 about which crops should be sown in March in order to grow a rich harvest.

"March is the start for many vegetable crops. Right now, we are laying the foundation for a bountiful harvest by growing healthy and strong seedlings. It is important to remember that each region has its own characteristics, so it is necessary to take into account the climatic conditions when choosing crops and sowing dates," he said.

First of all, he advised planting tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in March.

"To get an early harvest, the seeds of these heat-loving crops should be sown at the beginning of the month. Do not forget about choosing the right varieties, giving preference to those that are adapted to your region and resistant to diseases," the deputy emphasized.

Chaplin advised paying attention to preparing the soil for seedlings. He recommended using high-quality soil that is well permeable to air and moisture. For example, you can purchase ready-made soil at a specialty store or prepare it yourself by mixing peat, humus and sand in equal proportions. Before sowing, it is necessary to disinfect the soil in order to avoid disease damage to seedlings, the expert noted.

When to plant seedlings: favorable days in March-2025

According to the lunar calendar, the first decade and the end of the month will be the most successful for landings.

He recommended soaking the seeds in a growth stimulant solution before sowing. Lighting is also important for them.

"Seedlings need at least 12-14 hours of light per day. If natural light is not enough, use phytolamps or fluorescent lamps. It is important to provide the seedlings with enough light so that they do not stretch and are strong," Chaplin said.

The expert also said that it is important to water the seedlings regularly. According to him, the soil should not be allowed to dry out or waterlog.

"Feed the seedlings once every 10-14 days with a complex mineral fertilizer. This will help the seedlings get all the necessary nutrients for growth and development," he concluded.

On March 18, Roman Oparin, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology at the State University of Education, told Izvestia about ways to accelerate bud swelling in trees in spring. He advised pruning the bushes growing nearby in order to provide the plant with light. You should also whitewash the trunk and the rest of the branches and install reflective screens. Also, in early spring, it is worth watering the tree with slightly warm water and pruning dry and weak branches.
