This year, experts will carry out a comprehensive landscaping of the historical part of Leninsky Prospekt — between the Garden Ring and Gagarin Square, said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

According to him, over 400 new trees will be planted in this area. These will mainly be mature trees aged 20-35 years, with a height of 4 to 8 meters: Pallida lime trees and New Horizon elms. They adapt well to the peculiarities of the Moscow climate: they withstand harsh winters and hot summers, and are resistant to strong winds.

Sobyanin noted that most of the new trees will appear on wide sidewalks, creating a "green wall" between the roadway and the facades of residential buildings. The trees will decorate, in particular, Kaluga Square and Gagarin Square.

The planting work started about two weeks ago.

From 2021 to 2023, almost 1.6 thousand trees were planted on Leninsky Prospekt. Mostly in areas closer to the MKAD.
