A resident of the Orel region, accused of high treason, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on March 18 by the FSB Public Relations Center.

"The specified person was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 15 years with restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year with a fine of 500 thousand rubles," the agency said in a statement.

According to the FSB, the accused transferred money to support Ukrainian terrorist groups. These funds were used to purchase drones, weapons, ammunition, and tactical equipment.

Criminal proceedings were initiated against the man under Article 275 "High treason" and part 1.1 of Article 205.1 "Assistance to terrorist activities" of the Criminal Code of Russia.

It is specified that the accused was detained in July 2024. He admitted that he transferred money and cryptocurrency to representatives of Ukrainian terrorist organizations and realized that they were "participating in hostilities on the side of Ukraine."

On February 11, in the Amur region, a 22-year-old resident of Blagoveshchensk was sentenced to 12 years for financing the Ukrainian army. He transferred funds to purchase weapons, ammunition and military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to use them against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
