"Many elements of the final agreement have been agreed upon, but many remain," he wrote on March 18 on his page on the Truth Social network.

Trump also expressed hope for an early telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stressed that the conflict in Ukraine "must end now."

On March 17, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed preparations for a conversation between Trump and Putin. According to him, the conversation will take place on March 18. He did not provide any other details.

The American leader's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, said on March 16 that great progress had been made in discussing the Ukrainian conflict at a meeting with Putin in Moscow.
