The American UPS delivery service threw 380 million-year-old fossils into a landfill due to the negligence of a university in New Jersey that did not pay the bills for services. This was reported on March 17 by NBC News, citing a source.

"Professor [Martin Becker] sued the University of New Jersey, claiming that due to the negligence of the educational institution, 380 million-year-old fossils ended up in a landfill in Nashville, Tennessee, last year," the publication says.

It is specified that the professor sent through the university post office about 200 fossils from his collection to a colleague in Florida. However, he later found out from UPS that the university had not paid the bills, and therefore the valuable copies were thrown into the landfill.

Earlier, on February 10, it was reported that Briton James Howells was considering the possibility of acquiring part of the landfill to search for his missing hard drive in 2013 with bitcoins worth more than £ 600 million. At the same time, the city authorities intend to close the landfill in order to build a solar energy production station on one of its sites.
