The Ministry of Defense showed footage of the combat work of the crew of the TOS-1A Solntsepek

On Tuesday, March 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat operation of the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A Solntsepek of the Zapad group of forces in the area of the special military operation (SVO) at night.

It is specified that the Solntsepek system has high firepower and maneuverability, thanks to which it has proven itself well during its combat operations. TOS-1A is unique in that it allows the destruction of militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who have taken refuge in trenches, fortified structures or armored vehicles. "The machine is designed to destroy enemy manpower and lightly armored vehicles using thermobaric ammunition. It can also be both the front line and the rear areas. The range is from 5 to 6 km, but there are also increased ranges — up to 10 km," said the commander of the flame—throwing group with the call sign Tyran.

The video showed how the Solntsepek system eliminated the platoon strongpoint and shelters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at night. The launches were carried out at a distance of about 6 km.

The Russian Defense Ministry added that at first, during aerial reconnaissance by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a concentration of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was detected. After that, they decided to destroy the targets using a heavy flamethrower system.
