- Russian scientists have developed a method for diagnosing cystic fibrosis by exhaled air

Scientists were able to identify the characteristic volatile organic compounds associated with cystic fibrosis (a hereditary disease that affects exocrine glands and organs — Ed.), and develop machine learning algorithms capable of determining the severity of the disease. This was announced on Monday, March 17, at the First Moscow State Medical University. Sechenov.
"The models and algorithms developed as part of the project will help doctors not only identify pathologies, but also assess their severity," he told the newspaper.Ru" Researcher at the Institute of Personalized Cardiology Artemy Silantyev.
In addition to cystic fibrosis, scientists are also investigating other chronic diseases. Research is also underway in the field of oncology and cardiology.
Earlier, on March 14, it became known that Russian scientists at ITMO and the Almazov National Medical Research Center created an artificial intelligence-based system that can automatically detect cardiac fibrosis based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. For this purpose, a special algorithm has been developed that divides the organ image into segments, and then calculates the location and amount of scar tissue.
