Iran rejects the accusations of US President Donald Trump about the alleged involvement of the republic in the attacks of the Yemeni Houthis. This was stated on Tuesday, March 18, by Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Amir Saeed Irvani in a letter sent to the Chairman of the Security Council and the UN Secretary General.

"Iran strongly rejects and condemns these reckless and provocative statements. Iran calls on the UN Security Council to take a clear and principled position in condemning this rhetoric that inflames tensions," the IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.

Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations added that the accusations of representatives of the United States, as well as Great Britain and France, of the republic's destabilizing activities in Yemen are unfounded.

In addition, Irvani threatened the United States with consequences in case of aggression towards Iran.

The day before, on March 17, Trump said that Iran would be responsible for the attacks carried out by the Yemeni Houthis. According to him, it is Tehran that is behind the arming and financing of the Houthis, as well as the organization of their actions.
