France and Canada have launched a new bilateral cooperation in the field of security and intelligence sharing. This was announced on March 17 on the official website of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney following his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

"The Prime Minister [of Canada] and the President [of France] highlighted the beginning of a new bilateral partnership in the field of intelligence and security. The partnership will be aimed at improving cybersecurity and sharing intelligence on serious threats," the publication says.

It clarifies that the key points of the partnership will include economic security, espionage, sabotage and the prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

On March 14, Carney was officially sworn in as the country's prime minister. He stated that the new ministerial team was created to take immediate action, protect Canadian workers, support families, and develop Canada.
