Clouds in Moscow turned into rainbow shades against the background of the cold snap. Alexey Eliseev, chief researcher at the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, announced this on Monday, March 17.

"This effect is called ionization. This is a consequence of the refraction of light on small ice crystals formed in the atmosphere after the cold snap," he told the Moscow City News agency.

Earlier in the day, Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, said that positive temperatures would return to Moscow and the region from Tuesday, March 18.

In turn, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that at the beginning of the week the temperature typical for March will prevail in the capital. Life.Ru The coldest night will be on Tuesday, when thermometers will show up to minus 6-8 degrees, and in the region — up to minus 12. It will get warmer on Wednesday night, writes "Moscow 24".
