In St. Petersburg, electric scooter rentals will be suspended in adverse weather conditions, such as snowfall and frost. This was announced on Monday, March 17, according to the press service of the Committee on Transport.

The authorities also plan to include a number of provisions to improve the safety of pedestrians and SIM users. Among them is an increase in fines for driving against the rules and the arrangement of parking lots for electric scooters in a uniform style.

Innovations will be introduced into the Agreement on the Safe Use of Personal Mobility Equipment (SIM). The document is being developed by kicksharing operators, Comtrans and the City Parking Management Center.

According to the 78 TV channel, a 2024 Agreement is currently in effect in the city, according to which SIM parking is prohibited in four central districts: Tsentralny, Admiralteysky, Petrogradsky and Vasileostrovsky. There are also six no-go zones for electric scooters, 175 locations with reduced speeds of up to 15 km/h and 7 locations with a limit of up to 10 km/h.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that electric scooters will receive numbers, and it will be possible to operate such equipment from the age of 16. The relevant changes to the traffic regulations are being prepared by the Ministry of Transport. The document also plans to prescribe requirements regarding overtaking and outrunning pedestrians by persons operating the SIM.
