- The political scientist allowed the approval of EU aid to Ukraine for €40 billion without Hungary

The European Union (EU) countries will "voluntarily and forcibly" coordinate assistance to Ukraine for €40 billion, distributing the costs among the states without a common decision from Brussels in order to avoid vetoing the project from Hungary. Dmitry Solonnikov, a political scientist, shared this opinion with Izvestia on March 17.
Earlier in the day, the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said that the EU foreign ministers had not agreed on €40 billion in aid to Ukraine. In turn, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Budapest did not support the proposal to provide further military assistance to Kiev, including a package worth €20 billion.
"There are two ways to resolve this issue. First, there is talk in Europe that European countries themselves will commit themselves, voluntarily, to providing assistance to Ukraine in order to raise a conditional €40 billion. This decision does not require the support of Hungary, it's just that all other countries, except Hungary, will distribute this assistance among themselves on a voluntary compulsory basis, they will provide it without an official decision," Solonnikov commented.
The second option, he said, is that Brussels will try to organize a color revolution in Hungary in order to replace Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his associates with pro-European politicians. Then, the source stressed, it would be easy for Brussels to get Budapest's consent to allocate funds to Kiev.
"Ousting Orban from office is a task that is being solved not only today, it was solved the day before yesterday and yesterday, and it will be solved further. We saw demonstrations in Budapest last year, and now they will intensify. The confrontation here is not over Ukraine, it is one of the elements of Orban's confrontation in relations with Brussels," the political scientist concluded.
Prior to that, on March 14, it was reported that the EU intends to create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €20-40 billion to circumvent Hungary's veto. Each country will contribute to the fund depending on its "economic weight". The European Union itself will consider as its contribution €1.9 billion of profits from frozen Russian assets.
