Among the most popular "harmful" foods, sweets such as chocolates, cakes and ice cream are in the lead among Russians (35%). This follows from the results of a study by the federal network of fitness clubs DDX Fitness, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 17.

Fast food took the second place: burgers and French fries (20.5%). Asian cuisine closes the top three in popularity — rolls and woks (16%). Pizza attracts only 11% of respondents, while homemade fried potatoes and dumplings attract 10%.

At the same time, for many respondents, cheat meals have become a common habit — scheduled meals during which you can afford your favorite, but not the healthiest dishes. One third of the respondents (34.3%) indulge in unhealthy food several times a month. Another 30% do this once a week, explaining that this is a kind of reward for their efforts and discipline. 18.7% do not limit themselves at all: they eat such dishes almost every day, but they assure that they try to keep portions under control.

"It is very important to understand that a cheat meal is not just gluttony. This is an opportunity to give yourself a little break from the strict regime. But it's important that you eat exactly what you really want, rather than grabbing the first thing you see. For example, if you want a burger, choose one that will really bring pleasure," said Yuri Averyanov, DDX Fitness fitness trainer.

According to the results of the study, 51% of respondents are confident that office employees most often resort to cheat as a way to cope with stress and deadline pressure. But athletes and coaches often have a strict regime that contrasts with cheats. Also, 10% associate the cheating of IT specialists and doctors with stress and an intense, busy schedule.

"A balanced diet, tailored to meet physiological needs, rarely includes fast food or confectionery. However, abruptly avoiding such products for a long time can become severe stress, increasing the risk of a breakdown. It is for unloading the nervous system that chitmils and chitdays exist (a whole day when it is allowed to depart from strict regime. — Ed.)," Averyanov explained.

However, according to him, you should not get carried away with such meals, it is enough to pamper yourself once every two or three weeks. In the case of chitmil, it is better to limit yourself to one serving, and in the case of chitday, do not go much beyond the recommended daily calorie limits.

"If you have difficulty returning to the regime after the cheat, it is better not to introduce them at all. The main thing is to remember that a cheat should be a planned controlled one, not a spontaneous breakdown. Choose exactly what you want and enjoy it without feeling guilty," the coach added.

Earlier, on January 29, Natia Chekhoeva, a gastroenterologist and endoscopist at the Gastro Clinic, told Izvestia that the systematic consumption of excessive calories inevitably overloads the body. This not only increases body weight, but also puts a strain on internal organs, including the heart, liver, and pancreas.
