An abnormal weather front that brought heavy snowfalls to Moscow has moved towards the Tula and Ryazan regions, meteorologists told Izvestia. There will be no more snowfall in the capital, but the winter weather will last at least until Wednesday or Thursday. On Tuesday, sleet and rain will fall on Crimea, Krasnodar Territory, Adygea and Kalmykia, while the weather there began to deteriorate on Monday. About what other consequences the cyclone brought to the capital and where else the spring winter will come — in the Izvestia article.

Winter in March

The landscapes in Moscow and the Moscow region on Monday, March 17, became wintry again — snow cover up to 2-6 cm formed on the streets of the city, the Hydrometeorological Center reported. They noted that the cyclone brought bad weather, the center of which moved from Europe to the northwest of European Russia.

And, according to meteorologists, the snowfall is over for Moscow this week — the weather front is moving to the southeast.

"An anomalous front will visit Tula and Ryazan today," Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia.

Starting on March 17, a wave cyclone that came from the Balkan Peninsula will bring adverse weather conditions to the southern regions, according to the website of the Hydrometeorological Center.

For example, heavy precipitation is expected in Crimea from March 17, to which wet snow and icy roads will be added on March 18. But on March 20, precipitation will stop.

In addition, heavy rains with sleet will also fall in the Krasnodar Territory, Adygea and Kalmykia on March 18. They will be accompanied by a wind of 15-20 m/s, there will be sticking of wet snow on wires and trees, ice and frost phenomena.

"The air temperature at night on March 19-20 in the Rostov region will drop to minus 6 degrees, in the Volgograd region to minus 10 degrees," the Hydrometeorological Center reported. "Frosts in the air from minus 1 to minus 3 degrees are also expected in the central regions of the Krasnodar Territory."

The bad weather will also cover the republics of the North Caucasus: North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory, Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan.

How to deal with snowfall in Moscow

In the capital on Monday, against the background of bad weather, electric scooter and bicycle rental operators put trips on pause until weather conditions improve, the metropolitan Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development reported. Owners of personal scooters and bicycles were advised to abandon trips during bad weather and use only public transport.

According to the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate, the snowfall led to accidents on the roads.

"Two accidents occurred on the MKAD this morning. According to preliminary data, four vehicles collided on the outside of 75 km of the Moscow Ring Road, resulting in injuries of varying severity to a child passenger," the department said.

The second road accident occurred on the outside of the 67 km MKAD, where five cars collided.

Traffic jams reached 7 points in the morning. According to the Department of Transport, by the evening there may be traffic difficulties in the city center, on the Third Transport Ring and the MKAD. They urged drivers to avoid sudden maneuvers, observe the distance and speed limit, especially on ascents and descents from bridges and overpasses. Motorists were also urged to abandon trips in favor of urban transport.

Due to the snowfall, continuous monitoring of the condition of the street and road network is currently underway in the capital, the press service of the Moscow Municipal Economy Complex reported.

And in the Moscow region, almost 2 thousand road workers are working to ensure safe passage, the Ministry of Transport of the region reported. Also in the Moscow region, employees of public utilities and special equipment went out to clean streets, yards and roads.

For example, the Khimki city district administration reported that entrances to social infrastructure facilities, descents and ascents, approaches to public transport stops, railway stations and platforms are being cleared.

When will winter end in the center of Russia

In Moscow and the Moscow region, the temperature will be lowest on Monday afternoon and at night on Tuesday and Wednesday, then it will begin to rise, according to the website of the Hydrometeorological Center.

Alexander Shuvalov believes that the snow will stay in Moscow until Thursday or Friday and then it will come off.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be relatively cold with overnight frosts from minus 5 to minus 7 degrees, in the region it may reach minus 10 degrees at night. Then there will be warming," Alexander Shuvalov added.

Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, noted that daytime temperatures will gradually rise and return to normal on Wednesday.

"We expect that on Saturday the air temperature will be in the range of 8-9 degrees Celsius and there will be no trace of the snow that has fallen now," she added.

In some people, changes in atmospheric pressure caused by bad weather can cause dizziness, headaches or joint pain, exacerbation of chronic diseases, fatigue and other unpleasant sensations, Olga Ulankina, a doctor at the Hemotest laboratory, reminded.

According to her, adequate sleep, moderate physical activity and a balanced diet can minimize the impact of weather changes on well-being.
