Patriotic education begins with family history, says Olga Zanko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations, Chairman of the Central Headquarters of the All-Russian Public Movement Volunteers of Victory. She told about it in the press center of the Izvestia News Center on March 17.

The press conference discussed the holding of the actions "Message to the Hero" and "Russia through the eyes of children", dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"Patriotic education begins with family history, and this is another value of such actions. For each participant, this is not only an opportunity to make your work [seen] or your character talked about on TV, but also an opportunity to create a new family tradition. When you start studying the history of Russia through the history of your family, it becomes not so far away," she stressed.

At the same time, she spoke about the preparation of volunteers for the 80th anniversary of the Victory. According to her, 500,000 people have been trained in just one year to accompany the key events of the Year of Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of Victory.

"For every volunteer, the family history, the history of our country is very valuable and important," Zanko stressed.

Earlier, on December 25, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the victory over Nazism in 1945 should be promoted as a common value for all mankind. At the same time, he noted that all CIS countries remember and honor the feat of all the peoples of the USSR.
